Here's a Rant from Martha Koester

Khalid Sheikh Mohammed could not have beheaded Daniel Pearl

"Now it has emerged that Kuwaiti national Khalid Shaikh Mohammed did indeed perish in the raid, but his wife and child were taken from the apartment and handed over to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), in whose hands they remain." I wouldn't be suprised if whoever they are torturing subsequently admits to the JFK assassination, the Lindbergh kidnapping, and being the father of Anna Nicole Smith's baby. Undoubtedly our professional Inquisitors are also probably hoping to learn of his involvement in the killings of Albus Dumbledore and Jon Benet Ramsey, faking crop circles and putting the Ram in the Ramalamadingdong, providing he doesn't run out of fingernails and they have enough batteries for the cattle prods. Also, it looks like whoever it was "confessed" to plotting to blow up a bank that didn't exist until long after he was captured. Bank story

In his confession, KSM claims:

"I was responsible for planning, training, surveying, and financing for the New (or Second) Wave of attacks against the following skyscrapers after 9/11: ...Plaza Bank, Washington state" The Plaza Bank was not founded until 2006 according to their official Web site: "Founded in early 2006, with a vision of creating the leading commercial bank in the Pacific Northwest, Plaza Bank's story quickly captured the hearts and passion of some of the region's leading business minds. From Jack Creighton, former CEO of Weyerhaeuser and United Airlines, to former Seattle Mariner Edgar Martinez, and nationally acclaimed salon operator Gene Juárez, the story of a bank founded to bring "class to the mass" simply could not be contained." I think we can say for quite certain that whomever is being held as KSM was either caught recently or that his entire confession is a fraud.

And Another from Linde Knighton

At first I thought it was an April Fools joke, then I re-checked the date on the P.I. March 19th. Hmmmm. Were they serious? It seems that KING-5's newsroom won a Walter Cronkite Award for excellence in Television Political Journalism. One category was, "Outstanding local braodcast station in the country for in-depth political coverage in 2006." Well, that was a coke spewing moment. After I cleaned off my monitor, I considered that other cities were surely in major trouble with their local political news coverage. I mean, the Channel 5 folks couldn't be bothered to cover all of the candidates in the US Senate race, let alone my little state representative race.

Then I read who got the other award. It was Robert ("keep Aaron Dixon and Robin Adair away from the debates by all means") Mak and his producer Mike Cate. The best part was that the judges were apparently impressed by how they, "Dug deep into issues, providing viewers with clear explainations that would help them understand their choices at the polls." Yeah, right! At least the voters had a choice for once. The three candidates not covered were thoughtful, well-informed and gutsy enough speak their truth about the Iraq war. I was the only third party candidate able to qualify for the Legislative ballot. What's wrong with this picture?

It's not the job of journalists to keep the voters in the dark. It is their job to inform--period. Even if they are writing about politcal races as if they were covering horse races, they should at least mention the long shots.

I'm sure that Halliburton will feel much more comfortable close to a major center of terrorist banking than it is in America. They're probably taking all their financial records with them before Henry Waxman demands to see them. How convenient. Cheney will have lots of new hunting opportunities as well, though falcon hunting with Dubai's head of state and Osama bin Laden is going to be much more physically challenging than the canned hunts he's used to.

That's where Bush wants to put the management of our ports, so he may as well move the White House there too. Why not? He's in favor of outsourcing just about everything else. That's where the oil is and where his campaign donors stash a lot of the booty they've gotten from looting our treasury.
